Learn From an Expert: How to Build a Successful Online Ministry
Whether you’re a church actively reaching audiences through your current online ministry, or are ready to start spreading your message online, there is a lot to consider. There are production details that are essential to making your audience feel welcome and there are tactics that are crucial to maintaining the engagement of your online audience. And still more to know about how to find your audience and make sure they know your content is available.
You can build a successful online ministry. We’ve seen it time after time. And the great part is that it doesn’t take much to improve aspects of your online presence that will mean a lot to the people watching.
We spent some time talking with Phil Gauthier, our director of account management here at Haivision. Phil has more than 12 years of experience in engaging audiences through online ministries. He has seen it all, and has been instrumental in helping many of our customers achieve success beyond their expectations.
We have four videos for you that will give you deeper insights into how online ministries work and how you can improve yours. Please take a few minutes to watch them all. You’ll be glad you did.
Episode 1: The Importance of Pre-Roll & Post-Roll
It’s easy to forget that your online audience needs to be given some attention while you’re broadcasting. Whether live or on demand, you should address your online audience apart from your physical audience. Make them feel special. Welcome them into your ministry.
And when it’s all over, you have an opportunity to address your online audience again. You can use this time to call them to some kind of action, like viewing the next in the series of videos. Or you can just thank them for watching. Whatever you decide, the importance is the personal touch. See how we expand on these points in the video below.
Episode 2: Finding the Right People for Your Online Ministry
Very few ministries have the kind of vast resources necessary to fully staff an Audio/Visual department. In many cases, volunteers will be at the helm of many of the aspects of your video broadcast. While this may seem like a drawback, it should really be viewed as a blessing.
In this next episode, we look at how you can find the right people to help you staff your online ministry efforts. What skills are you looking for? How will you make sure that they’re equipped to help? Watch the video to learn more.
Episode 3: Best Practices for Your Video On Demand Content
It’s an amazing thing to be able to record your lessons and post them online. Your audience can view when it’s convenient for them to do so, and you have the opportunity to build an even larger audience for your live efforts. Whatever the goal behind your VOD content, you’ll want to watch this video to learn how to find your audience and how to help your audience find you.
There’s more to it than that, though. See what Phil has to say in the third episode.
Episode 4: Using OTT Video to Broadcast Your Ministry
You may have a set-top box like an Apple TV or a Roku in your home. These devices help to deliver Over The Top or OTT content to people’s homes. You can create apps to be available on these set-top boxes that can deliver live or on-demand content to your audience. It’s a great way to reach church members at home, build a larger following, and give your viewers another way of watching your content.
Phil expands on what OTT is and how it can help to grow your audience here in episode 4. Check it out below.
Use Online Video to Increase Your Physical Attendance
Although it may seem counterintuitive, building your online audience can actually help to increase the number of people who come to your physical location. We’ve seen it happen over and over again. We took the time to broadcast a webinar on this very subject, and went over the statistics as well as the means by which people are achieving success.
This webinar is available for free, and we’d love for you to take the time to see how ministries are growing with simple, and welcoming, online outreach.
