Haivision Connect Video On Demand

More Choices, More Ways to Watch: Introducing Video on Demand for Haivision Connect

Haivision Connect, our cloud-based streaming platform for ministries now has a brand-new and much-anticipated feature in the latest release – Video on Demand publishing (VOD). Designed to help churches reach their audiences anywhere, this new capability firmly puts the viewer in the driving seat, giving them the freedom to choose the content they want to watch, whenever and wherever they want to.

Before we dive into this new feature, let’s back up a little and explain more about VOD, what it is and how it can be leveraged by churches.

What is Video on Demand?

VOD is essentially pre-recorded video content that has been made accessible from an online library from anywhere at any time from any device using an internet connection and a web browser or a mobile app. Popular streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu are among the most common examples of VOD platforms. Over the past decade, the demand for VOD content has skyrocketed with viewers no longer limited to a schedule to watch their favorite content. VOD does not just apply to TV shows or movies, educational and inspirational content can also be part of VOD libraries.

“Connecting with viewers who are not able to attend our services or watch live online is a priority for our ministry as it allows us to deliver our message to those that really count on us, wherever they are,” said Jonathan Garcia, Technical Production Manager, King Jesus International Ministry. “The Haivision Connect live and on-demand streaming platform is the perfect tool that gives our audience more choices and more ways to watch.”

Haivision Connect VOD

Designed in close collaboration with leading ministries, Haivision Connect makes it easy for church leaders and volunteers to create, upload, and publish on-demand video from a web browser. With just a few clicks, a Haivision Connect user can share video content, whether it’s a recording of a previously held service or an uploaded video file, to web video players, mobile apps, OTT services, and social media platforms, including YouTube and Facebook, all at once.

The Haivision Connect Smart Encoding feature automatically generates the different video resolutions and bitrates required by each publishing platform. This feature streamlines the process of uploading content and eliminates potential errors as it requires only a single video file to be uploaded to Haivision Connect for all of the different the web, mobile, and social media platforms your church uses.

With Haivision Connect users can easily create playlists for grouping content based on the type of video or target audiences. Playlists may be used to group types of services, specific pastors, campus locations, or even different languages. On demand video stored with the Haivision Connect cloud platform can also include metadata tags making it easy to find relevant content, fast.

What Benefits Does VOD Offer Churches?

With video content made available at any time, video-on-demand gives churches the potential to grow their audience and reach even more people. Providing viewers with convenient access to broadcast-quality, pre-recorded content means giving them the freedom to choose what they watch and when. No longer bound to fixed schedules, viewers can easily search through the video library and watch content that they were unable to watch live or even go back and rewatch their favorite services, conferences, teachings, and more. Viewers can also control how they watch with pause, rewind, and fast forward options.

Additionally, VOD allows churches to get creative and repurpose live sermons as VOD content, enabling users to easily trim video or create new clips within the platform. Or create brand new content to attract a wider audience and further engage with worshippers.
