LiveScale Launches End-to-End Live Streaming Platform with Haivision’s HEVC over SRT Encoders

LiveScale now supports HEVC over SRT as an alternative to H.264 over RTMP to dramatically increase bandwidth utilization and picture quality when streaming to websites, mobile applications, broadcasters and social media.

Montreal, Quebec – October 17th, 2017 – LiveScale, the first omnicast live platform, today announced the update of their enterprise SaaS offer, now integrating the support of SRT (Secure Reliable Transport) and HEVC with Haivision encoders for high-quality live streaming to multiple platforms. SRT, a technology that Haivision open sourced earlier this year, is the alternative to RTMP, enabling far greater bandwidth utilization and security on contribution links. HEVC, or H.265, is the latest compression technology to increase picture quality and bandwidth efficiency, and combining HEVC with SRT will revolutionize streaming contribution workflows.

With HEVC and SRT support within the LiveScale platform, broadcasters, live event producers and enterprises can now efficiently and concurrently stream up to 4K and 360 degree VR content to web portals, mobile apps, and directly to social media sites including Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, from a single contribution feed. The platform’s simplicity allows users to fully provision their streaming workflows within two minutes.

“Contribution efficiency has always been a major pain point for live content creators. SRT addresses this challenge with a future-proof open-source solution, allowing our customers to acquire, engage and monetize their audience anywhere, in the most effective way.”, said Virgile Ollivier, co-founder and CEO of LiveScale. “Our validation tests with Haivision’s encoders have proven to deliver the incredible video quality that our customers are looking for with up to 80% more bandwidth efficiency. “

Haivision’s award-winning Makito X encoders transport secure, low latency, HD video over any network at extremely low bitrates, making them ideal for live, interactive and bandwidth constrained applications such as remote interviews, production reviews, news gathering and return feeds. Haivision’s KB encoders support HEVC and up to 4K resolution, making them ideal for live event streaming to global internet audiences, offering optimized bandwidth usage without sacrificing a high-quality viewing experience. Both Haivision encoders are now supported with LiveScale’s platform.

“We are thrilled that LiveScale has joined the SRT Alliance and have further adopted Haivision encoders for streaming,” said Sylvio Jelovcich, Vice President of Global Alliances at Haivision. “The LiveScale platform is a great example of how to simplify live video delivery by allowing users to stream once with the highest quality and deliver across many portals to maximize reach.”
