We’re happy to report that SRT Alliance membership is continuing its rapid growth. It’s been a busy few weeks for the Alliance which has just announced that 39 new members have recently joined its ranks to endorse the SRT Open Source protocol. Among the new members are broadcast industry giants Imagine Communications, Net Insight, Red Bee Media, and Telestream. This is further evidence that support for SRT as the de facto low latency video streaming standard continues to gather momentum. For a list of all 39 new members, click here.
As the original developer of the Secure Reliable Transport (SRT) protocol, Haivision is also a founding member of the SRT Alliance. SRT was initially developed by Haivision’s IP and video experts to address the challenges of streaming content over the internet: security and reliability. Now an open-source protocol, SRT allows broadcasters and streamers to deliver high-quality, low latency streams across the public internet.
SRT Empowering Customers
The widespread adoption and deployment of the SRT protocol are helping companies to meet the needs of their customers by enabling simplified interoperability with large numbers of vendors, products and platforms.
“We are pleased to support SRT technology and join the SRT Alliance,” said David Heppe, Commercial General Manager, Targeted Delivery at Imagine Communications. “We see SRT as a valuable tool to help our customers more reliably transport their content into our cloud-based targeted advertising workflows.”
“We are increasingly distributing video for high-value live events, often on a temporary basis for customers that demand high quality over secure and reliable networks,” said Steve Russell, Head of Media Management and OTT at Red Bee Media, the leading global provider of managed services for broadcasting and media. “SRT enables us to expand our customers’ reach while adhering to our preference for Open Standards.”
Bigger, Better, Stronger
Since SRT became open source at NAB almost 2 years ago, over 200 companies around the globe including Microsoft, Comcast, EBU/Eurovision, Harmonic, Ateme, MediaKind, Brightcove, and Kaltura have endorsed the emerging standard by joining the SRT Alliance.
