Last year, we introduced a brand-new user interface for the Makito X4 that streamlined the user experience and improved operational efficiency. The new UI was released to overwhelming positivity and even won the 2023 iF Design Award for Best User Interface. Today, we’re very excited to announce that we’re applying that same award-winning UI to our mobile video transmitters.

Ideally suited for transmitting live video over both public and private 5G networks, the Haivision Pro is used by the leading broadcasters to cover some of the largest sporting events, news stories, and live events around the world. And now, with a new UI, customers can benefit from a seamless experience across their Haivision ecosystem.

Introducing the New Haivision Pro User Interface

Award-Winning UI Design

Motivated by the commitment to make live broadcasting painless for all levels of video professionals including on-air talent, camera operators, and broadcast engineers, we set out to design a modern and easy-to-navigate browser-based interface, accessible from anywhere.

New and upgraded features include:

  • Reorganized Navigation: A restructured UI element layout highlights the most used functions and streamlines workflows.
  • Familiar Experience: Based on the award-winning Makito X4 UI framework, users can easily switch between Haivision products, from the Makito X4 video encoder to the Haivision Pro video transmitter, with minimal training.
  • Confidence Monitoring and Real-time Statistics: The new dashboard displays critical status information with preview thumbnails for live video feeds and displays stream metrics with real-time graphs. All the information is presented in a single, easy-to-access view, allowing users to maintain full control and easily troubleshoot possible issues.
  • Versatile Design: The new dashboard’s responsive design allows it to adapt to any screen format, making switching between different screens, such as desktop and mobile, seamless during high-pressure situations.
  • One-Tap Filtering: Easily find and manage networks based on active, inactive, and other statuses.
  • For Haivision Pro, Air & Rack: The new user interface is included in all versions of the Haivision Pro and Air series of video transmitters, as well as in Haivision Rack video encoders.

A Seamless Cross-Product User Experience

With this new update to our mobile video transmitters, the Haivision ecosystem of live broadcast solutions now features a consistent look and feel. Users can seamlessly switch between Haivision products, including the Makito X4 video encoder, the Pro460 transmitter, and the Haivision Hub 360 cloud-based master control without the need for additional training.

Haivision’s Chief Product Officer Jean-Marc Racine explains the importance of bringing the new UI to the Haivision ecosystem:

“User interface design is at the core of how Haivision develops products. The new Haivision Pro UI is part of our initiative to provide a consistent and enhanced user experience across our ecosystem of broadcast products. With this release, we aim to make it easier to get new users up and running quickly, help all customers increase their operational efficiency, and allow customers with multiple Haivision products to benefit from a more seamless experience across their suite of solutions.”

This improves usability, making it easier for broadcast teams to collaborate wherever they are located by simplifying the process of switching between Haivision products and managing workflows, over wired or wireless networks.
