Haivision 5G Mobile Technology Powers Special Concert for Telefónica
Telefónica, one of the largest telecommunications companies in the world, is celebrating its 100-year anniversary with a series of events including a very special concert to kick off the festivities.
Coinciding with the first day of the Mobile World Congress 2024, Telefonica hosted a cutting-edge concert featuring the world-renowned Chinese pianist Lang Lang and the latest holographic and 5G technologies. The hour-long concert featured a unique use of Musion 3D holographic technology and Haivision 5G mobile video solutions.
The finale showcased the power of 5G technology and Haivision solutions as Lang Lang performed two pieces on a Steinway Spirio R Series piano as a hologram, while he simultaneously played on a holographic piano.
Leveraging 5G mobile video transmission technology from Haivision, Musion 3D transmitted video and audio at low latency for holographic projection during the concert. The UHD holographic images were encoded and transmitted over a private 5G network, provided by Ericsson and Telefónica, as two videos of overhead keyboards were transmitted over Haivision Pro460 mobile video transmitters. The feeds were decoded with a Haivision StreamHub receiver before being distributed as holographic images.
