Article Summary
Haivision enhances live production with precise audio-video and multi-camera synchronization. Its technology maintains lip-sync accuracy under 5ms, even during interruptions or network issues, eliminating the need for additional hardware. With aligned multi-camera streams over SRT or cellular networks, Haivision provides smooth switching between cameras and a consistently high-quality viewing experience.
Live production teams depend on precise synchronization to deliver a seamless viewing experience and the Haivision ecosystem of broadcast video contribution products is making it much easier. Read more to learn about our latest AV and multi-camera sync innovations.
Audio-Video Sync
In live production, precise AV sync is critical. Even the smallest delay between audio and video can disrupt production quality and degrade the viewing experience. That’s why Haivision is offering exceptionally accurate AV synchronization technology with lip-sync precision kept at under 5ms even after multiple hours of live video contribution and brief interruptions such as source switching or network outages. No matter what unfolds during your live broadcast production, Haivision ensures your AV sync stays perfectly consistent.
Haivision delivers such precise AV synchronization that external frame sync hardware is not necessary. Whether you’re using Makito encoders and decoders for SRT streaming or relying on Haivision mobile transmitters and SST to contribute to SDI, ST 2110, or cloud workflows, Haivision keeps your video and audio – including multi-channel audio – perfectly aligned.
Multi-Camera Sync
For multi-camera remote production (REMI), we maintain perfect alignment, especially important when switching between cameras. For productions when even the smallest timing difference, input lag, or lip-sync issues will jeopardize the quality of viewing experience, Makito X4 encoders and Haivision Pro transmitters deliver the low latency and reliable quality you need. And the use of our SRT or SST protocols over uncontrolled public networks keeps that perfect synchronization, regardless of fluctuating network conditions.
Multi-camera Stream Sync, featured in Makito X4 encoders and decoders, keeps multiple SRT streams in sync by leveraging a small buffer that ensures that feeds are aligned with embedded timecode, before decoding and playing out to a production facility. When streaming over bonded cellular networks with SST, Haivision transmitters are synced to the destination StreamHub receiver’s reference clock so that video feeds are time-stamped and kept in sync as they are decoded.
Haivision’s multi-camera sync technology, whether over the internet or cellular networks, allows directors and producers to switch between different video and audio sources without having to worry about synchronization. When combined with AV sync, the results are a smooth, high-quality viewing experience.
