Job Summary

The Senior Business Systems Analyst serves as a liaison between the business community and the IT organization to provide technical solutions that meet user’s needs. This individual possesses expertise in the business unit(s) supported as well as an understanding of the IT organization’s systems and capabilities. The Senior Business Systems Analyst provides a business unit with a point of contact to manage application initiatives and system enhancements for the business area.

The Senior Business Systems Analyst’s role is to conduct business process analysis, gather detailed requirements, and document user stories. This individual will work collaboratively with the System Architects to define technical solutions that align with business requirements. This individual will represent the business during implementation to ensure the final solution is in line with requirements. The Senior Business Systems Analyst will act as a gate keeper of projects that are presented to the Information Systems Management Team and will be responsible for, and measured on, the impact and adoption of the implemented solutions.

This Senior Business Systems Analyst will join a newly created Information Systems Management team and assist with building out the business analyst team in this department. The ideal candidate is experienced in a business-to-business environment. They must be a creative thinker/problem solver, self-starter, results-driven, personable, detail-oriented, efficient, and enjoy working in a fast-paced team environment. This position can be remote. This position may require limited travel (10-15%).

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Identify and drive improvements in the use of IT applications
  • Measure system usage and ensure adoption
  • Manage requests for assigned business area by working with non-technical business users to gather business requirements and turning requirements into functional specifications for application enhancements and new projects
  • Record all process flows from migration requests for new projects
  • Maintain a backlog of requests from the supported business area and routinely meet to adjust/identify priorities
  • Estimate work effort and build a business case for specific enhancements
  • Assist in the business process redesign and documentation as needed for new technology
  • Outline, create, and administer requisite training when needed
  • Create and update application living documentation for all applications for assigned business area
  • Assist QA team in test planning and UAT planning
  • Review test cases to make sure all requirements are addressed
  • Manage maintenance releases of supported systems
  • Ensure smooth transition from Project to Support with necessary documentation
  • Provide 3rd tier support for business applications and work with the IT/development team to resolve system bugs
  • Communicate ideas and viewpoints to senior management and key stakeholders

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, information technology or related field
  • 5-10 years of proven experience as a business analyst
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and time-management skills
  • Strong written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and risk management skills
  • Proven ability to work in a changing/growing environment
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Demonstrated ability to execute multiple, interdependent end-to-end projects
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Microsoft Visio or an equivalent program
  • Experience working with Salesforce is preferred
  • Experience in warehouse or supply chain environment is preferred
