Professional Services Engineer/Commissioning Technician

Job Summary:

The Professional Services Engineer – Operations Center Solutions will work with our partners and end-users deploying Haivision’s digital video solutions. Technical knowledge of IT systems, network infrastructures and A/V systems as well as relevant hands-on experience is necessary when working directly with customers.

As a member of the Professional Services team, you will actively participate in the post-sale design, deployment, and commissioning of Haivision’s solutions. You will collaborate regularly with the Project Management Team on all aspects of the project including scope, timeline, and technical challenges. You will also work closely with the Sales, Sales Engineering, and Support teams to ensure a successful deployment and high customer satisfaction.

This position requires travel, domestic and international, making up approximately 60 % of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Technical lead for commissioning Haivision’s video wall processing and ecosystem deployments:
  • Configure, commission, and troubleshoot both on-site and remote.
  • Assist project managers with the development of project timelines and scope of work documentation.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation related to the Haivision solution being deployed.
  • Create daily reports of project progress, maintain, and update project records within project management tracking applications.
  • Develop training materials and deliver technical training to partners and end-users both on-site and remote.
  • Assist with pre-sale engineering review of large projects.
  • Perform other technical related duties as requested.

Skills and Qualifications

  • A university degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent combination of technical training and work experience.
  • A proven history of establishing and maintaining strong customer relationships, including in high profile or challenging situations.
  • Strong technical background with 3+ years technical experience in video wall ecosystems, LAN/WAN video distribution technologies, internet infrastructure, network expertise, and troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of AV Workflows, AV Networking, System Administration, and backend AV systems.
  • Expert knowledge of Windows operating systems.
  • Strong understanding of analog and digital audio-visual system design in environments such as broadcast studios, medical visualization, or large enterprise collaboration systems.
  • Hands-on expertise with SRT, UDP, RTP and other video protocols.
  • Firm understanding of real-time media transport protocols such as RTP, MPEG2-TS, RTMP, HLS and HDS, and Session protocols such as SIP and STSP.
  • Familiarity with video compression technologies, such as MPEG-2, and MPEG-4/H.264, and HEVC.
  • Experience using various network troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark, Traceroute, Netstat, Nslookup, etc.
  • Understanding of web development or scripting languages a strong plus (such as Python, JavaScript, or various command shells).
  • Self-starter with ability to work with minimal supervision and the desire to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to travel extensively (including overnight) both domestic and international making up approximately 60% of the time.
  • Fluent with spoken and written English with the ability to clearly communicate and document complex technical information in English.
