Planner/Buyer

Job Summary: 

The Planner/Buyer will be responsible to perform material planning as well as all transactions related to purchasing such as issuing purchase requisitions, purchase orders and maintaining all scheduled delivery dates up to date in the ERP system. He/She will participate actively and coordinate communication with our vendors. The Planner/Buyer will also have to ensure keeping key performance metrics above target and report any issues.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Open Purchase Orders:
    • Regular follow up on delivery dates.
    • Raise any delays to management.
    • Keep vendors accountable for their confirmed dates and promised lead times.
    • Keep all delivery dates up to date in the ERP system.
  • Manage the Material Requirement Planning (MRP):
    • Run the MRP daily
    • Issue purchase requisitions and purchase orders as per the MRP planned orders.
    • Expedite purchase orders with vendors for the items that are negative or low in inventory.
    • Work with Business Operations department to align sales opportunities shipping dates with material delivery dates.
  • Coordinate the inbound logistics from the vendors.
  • Support the Account Payable to answer questions regarding receiving or invoicing.
  • Manage day-to-day communication with vendors (quotes, purchase orders, forecasts, correctives actions, deliveries, etc.)
  • Monitor supplier performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Coordinate Supplier Audits.
  • Possibility of expending to a strategic role based on experience.

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in a similar position
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel software (advanced / expert level)
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills in both French and English
  • High level of autonomy and professionalism with ability to act on own initiative, exercise good judgment and manage expectations
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Experience in planning and purchasing electronic components is considered an asset.
  • APICS certification is considered an asset
