April 20, 2006 - HaiVision Systems Inc. (Montreal, Canada) will introduce the hai1000 high performance multi-stream encoder decoder system at NAB within the AVC Alliance booth (South Hall 2, Booth SL 1976). The hai1000 is the industry leading codec for MPEG-4 AVC (Advanced Video Coding also referred to as H.264) performance, offering the lowest latency and highest reliability available. HaiVision’s implementation of the Advanced Video Coding standard will afford savings of over 50% on network related charges for establishing very high quality network video collaboration such as boardroom conferencing suites, distance education, and medical applications. The hai1000 is a true multi-stream network system, incorporating up to 10 encoder or decoder channels in one device, and is thus ideally suited for today’s collaboration suite environments. Typically integrators are specifying 3 or 4 cameras per suite to assure eye-to-eye contact between participants. As well, they provide for continuous presence, with each remote participant continuously occupying a dedicated screen within the suite (quad splits are not suitable for advanced communication). Not only is the hai1000 unique in its support of multiple encode/decode channels, but its implementation of the MPEG-4 AVC standard can be fine tuned for “talking head” applications, yielding crisp and clear, full resolution DVD quality at very low bandwidth. The new encoding standard (MPEG-4 AVC / H.264) is being embraced by the three main market areas of communications – video conferencing, broadcast, and enterprise – due to its efficiency. With its low latency implementation (as low as 120 milliseconds end-to-end delay) and unmatched reliability, HaiVision is maintaining its position as the premier provider of high performance codecs for interactive applications, and at the same time providing for the efficiencies of this new standard. “Combined with dramatic increases in affordability of and access to broadband, this new standard makes high quality conferencing widely available”, explains Peter Maag, HaiVision’s Vice President of Marketing. “The new standard implies a 50% off sale on operational costs, instantly!!! Our integrators are very excited about providing this solution to their clients, globally.” About HaiVision Systems Inc.
