Company Overview:
Haivision is a world leader in delivering the most advanced and intelligent IP video networking technology. Haivision’s products are deployed within federal markets for ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance), mission, and IPTV applications. Haivision's Piranha provides low-latency video with metadata transport for UAV (Unmanned Airborne Vehicle) control and exploitation systems. The company’s Furnace IP video distribution system has received a Certificate of Networthiness (CoN) for Department of Defense (DoD) U.S. Army installations and is deployed across many bases. Further, the Makito Air™ has been introduced to provide low-latency HD video and metadata for airborne applications. Outside of federal markets, Haivision satisfies high-demand applications for secure, intelligent, and performance video communications within medical, TelePresence, and educational market segments.

Products on Display at LandWarNet 2010:
Furnace 5.6
At
LandWarNet Haivision will be showcasing the much-anticipated Furnace 5.6, a
complete solution for end-to-end HD H.264 video-over-IP distribution. The
upgrade includes a completely redesigned and easy-to-use interface as well as a
newly integrated Conditional Access (CA) Module.
The new Conditional Access Portal offers users a built-in authentication portal for a direct interface with customer LDAP/Active Directory databases; the ability for customers to brand their CA portal; the ability to assign rights and privileges for live streams, playback channels, and VoD assets; and VF administrative tools such as recording, client control, etc. The new portal also integrates with the Haivision Stingray™ set-top box.
The powerful integrated solution continues to support the compact Makito™ HD H.264 encoder to manage and distribute live video to computers and set-top boxes, to create scheduled playback channels for enterprise TV and signage, and to record content and deliver video-on-demand in a secure, easy-to-use system. The Furnace Portal Server controls the direct and secure distribution of SD and HD H.264 video to both the “zero-footprint” InStream™ player and the Stingray set-top box. The Furnace Playback Manager supports scheduled channels for IP video broadcast and signage, and the Furnace Media Server leverages the efficiencies of H.264 to enable HD video-on-demand.
Furnace
5.6 offers network video recording (NVR) functionalities including API-enabled
management by third-party systems, ad-hoc recording and pause/resume recording,
bookmark insertion with annotations, and publishing. In addition to these
operational features, the system introduces Multi-Stream viewing enhancements,
a live closed-captioning trigger, and additional security functions.

Ruggedized HD H.264 for Airborne Video — Makito AIR™
The
Makito AIR™, a ruggedized version
of Haivision’s Makito™ for airborne video, is ideal for military, homeland
security, and law enforcement applications. Features include added real-time
metadata (KLV and CoT) support, operation with MIL-STD connectors, and compliance with stringent
DO-160 specifications.

New Makito™ Decoder
One
of Haivision’s more recent additions to the Makito™ family is an HD H.264
decoder that offers the lowest latency decoding available with less than 70
milliseconds of latency at video resolutions of up to 1080p60 when paired with
the popular Makito encoder. This system provides efficient delivery of HD video
via HD-SDI or HDMI output. Sharing the space-saving, mini-blade form factor and
low power requirements of the Makito encoder, this new product is an optimal
solution for military applications seeking a professional-grade, low-latency,
high-performance video decoding solution.

MB6 High-Density Six-Slot Chassis
To
support fast deployment of its market-leading encoder systems in even the most
space-constrained installations, Haivision will showcase the market’s
highest-density option for HD encoding — the MB6. This six-slot chassis design
holds up to six Makito™ or Barracuda™ encoders/decoders in just a single 1
7/8-inch rack unit (RU). The hot-swappable design of the system allows for
various chassis configurations with any combination of Makito encoders, Makito
decoders, or Barracuda encoders to meet any video distribution needs.

Piranha™
The Piranha™ network video platform, on display at LandWarNet 2010, provides carrier-grade, low-latency video compression for IP transport and incorporates full support for combined metadata applications such as ISR, UAV, and KLV (Key Length Value) systems. The Piranha features the performance, reliability, and flexibility of Haivision’s acclaimed hai1000™ series, offering 180-millisecond end-to-end latency and advanced networking features including logical multicast and traffic shaping.
The
Piranha is ideal for military deployments. Haivision’s H.264 video compression
affords a more-than 50 percent reduction in bandwidth compared to MPEG-2
systems. Further, Haivision codecs provide the lowest-latency fluid
communications, which is a must for mission-critical video transmission or when
remote system control is required. The Piranha delivers consistent performance
at latency as low as 180 milliseconds end to end.
