HaiVision Speaking Appearances at ISE 2010:
HaiVision’s senior vice president Peter Maag and CTO Joe Gaucher will be presenting two educational sessions at ISE 2010. The first session, to be held on Feb. 3 at 2:00 p.m., will address the topic of “Applying TelePresence Principles,” while the second session on Feb. 4 at 10:00 a.m. will discuss the “Application of IP Video for Corporate Video Deployment.”
HaiVision Products at ISE 2010:
Video Furnace System 5
At ISE 2010, HaiVision will showcase Video Furnace System 5, a complete solution for end-to-end HD H.264 video-over-IP distribution. The powerful integrated solution incorporates the compact MAKITO™ HD H.264 encoder to simplify deployment of a secure, easy-to-use system for encoding and distributing live video to computers and set-top boxes, for creating scheduled playback channels for enterprise TV and signage, and for recording content and delivering video-on-demand. The system’s Furnace Portal Server controls the direct and secure distribution of SD and HD H.264 video to both the “zero-footprint” InStream player and the STINGRAY set-top box; the Furnace Playback Manager supports scheduled channels for IP video broadcast and signage; and the Furnace Media Server leverages the efficiencies of H.264 to enable HD video-on-demand.

MAKITO™ HD H.264 Video Encoder
ISE 2010 attendees will get to see HaiVision’s new MAKITO™ HD video encoder, a high-performance HD H.264 encoder that now supports both component analog and DVI inputs. The MAKITO delivers low-latency, full-frame-rate H.264 encoding of high- definition video up to 1080p60, or computer graphics resolutions up to 1280x1024 60Hz (SXGA). The new MAKITO complements HaiVision’s release of the MAKITO-SDI in early 2009, which supports resolutions up to 1080p60 over SDI (including SDI, HD-SDI, and 3G-SDI). The new MAKITO also eliminates the need for converters or scalers when HD-SDI is not available.

BARRACUDA™Compact Encoder
HaiVision will also demonstrate the BARRACUDA™ compact H.264 encoder. The encoder supports SDI, S-video, and composite video inputs, and addresses the widest array of IP video users by supporting advanced features such as HaiVision’s HiLo Streaming™. The BARRACUDA is compatible with industry-standard set-top boxes and also integrates well with Video Furnace System 5, HaiVision’s end-to-end H.264 IP video solution featuring the “zero-footprint” InStream desktop player. The BARRACUDA is available as a stand-alone appliance or in a 4U rack-mount chassis for up to 21 BARRACUDA mini-blade encoders.

MAKO-HD Codec
HaiVision’s MAKO-HD codec will also be demonstrated at ISE. The MAKO-HD delivers an unparalleled 70 milliseconds of latency from end to end and supports HD up to 1080p. The MAKO-HD also supports computer output encoding to H.264, at up to 1280x768 resolution and 60 frames per second, which is ideal for command and control applications. With advanced features such as WXGA encoding, multiple stream output, HiLo Streaming™, Adobe® Flash® compatibility, and traffic shaping, the MAKO-HD is ideal for any network video challenge over LAN, WAN, or satellite. The MAKO-HD is supported within HaiVision’s hai1000™ multistream codec system — the world’s premier codec for TelePresence applications. Each hai1000 system can contain up to five MAKO-HD codecs within a compact telecom-grade 3U frame.
