Media distribution challenges within stadiums, conference centers, and other public venues are diverse. Displays, computers, and mobile devices are key in delivering content to the audience, private boxes, hallways, members of the press, and production personnel.  The media network needs to support a variety of sources that likely include live cameras, external broadcast feeds, graphical content, and digital signage.

Within live venues two aspects of media distribution are fundamental. First, if transmitting live feeds every measure must be taken to reduce end-to-end latency. If the fans in the hallway are subject to video that is delayed by several seconds they might as well be watching instant replay!! Second, the media content is made available in areas that are not secure, such as private boxes. As the content must be protected from any digital recording, end to end encryption must be employed. Further application of conditional access with encryption will assure strict control over who is allowed to see specific video content.

Haivision’s encoders deliver unmatched latency performance – below 70 milliseconds. The Furnace IP video system incorporates both encryption and conditional access. It as well delivers the secure multicast content to both Stingray set top boxes and the InStream soft player. InStream makes one or multiple secure video streams available to computers and it does not require any installation and works across all platforms – the ideal multi-stream viewer for press operations. The Furnace as well supports a powerful Network Video Recorder that can be used to capture multiple streams of HD video, apply real-time metadata, and make these assets available to entitled users anywhere.
