HIPAA & Security

The consideration of security, as it relates to the operation of Haivision products and systems and to the access of the data contained within our systems ,is fundamental to our design process. While Haivision is not considered a covered entity under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), most of our clients in healthcare must comply. We are committed to helping our customers with HIPAA compliance, specifically with respect to the technical safeguards of the “Security Rule” and the protective terms of the “Privacy Rule”. Effectively, with Haivision, healthcare facilities can control and report on definitively who sees what, where, and when.
Haivision products support the following security features:
- Access Control – secure login, credential control for data alterations, and secure network access provisions
- Audit Controls – detailed reporting structure, complete audit trail
- Integrity – assuring data safety
- Authentication – rule based conditional access for users/groups
- Transmission Security – end-to-end AES encryption
Haivision enables compliance with all the standard terms of the Privacy Rule as outlined in the business associate agreement. Covered entities must adopt measures to ensure that third parties with access to electronic PHI maintain appropriate levels of privacy and security.

Haivision will continue to improve our security features by collaborating with our customers and industry experts. Haivision’s HIPAA Toolkit, available to qualified integrators within our download center, includes a Haivision's HIPAA Reference Manual, Presentations, HIPAA Compliant Video Security White Paper, and MDS2 (Manufacturer Disclosure Statement for Medical Device Security) for our encoder and IP video system products.
