HaiVision’s hai1000 series is a high performance carrier grade encoder decoder system that supports up to 10 encode decode channels within a single IP appliance. Such flexibility is ideally suited to the multi-camera multi-display environment of telepresence and in addressing other performance communication systems where real time and persuasive interaction between facilities is critical. The MAKO-HD is the latest codec option for the hai1000 providing H.264 high definition (HD). The MAKO-HD supports up to 1080p and achieves an astonishing end to end latency of less than 70 milliseconds. The MAKO-HD can also encode RGBHV computer content at up to 1280x768 resolution at full frame rate.

The hai1000 brings the highly efficient MPEG-4 AVC / H.264 standard to
unsurpassed levels. It is equally capable delivering “talking head” content at
DVD quality with video bit rates as low as 700 kbps (making the hai1000 ideal
for installations over standard T1 connections) and for more rigorous video
applications, the hai1000 supports HD bit rates as high as 10 Mbps. Audio
quality is perfect – supporting bit rates up to 256 kbps with guaranteed video
synchronization.
With H.264 / MPEG-4 AVC, clients achieve bandwidth savings of over 50%
over MPEG-2. With the MAKO-HD technology, many are taking advantage of
H.264 to commission HD communications using the same bandwidth budget
that was previously applied to SD. Remarkably, the MAKO-HD technology
delivers on such efficiency at twice the speed of previous codecs - driving
latency out of communication systems.
